The paintings in this show are a selection from a series of work called ‘Choose Your Own Still Life’ (a reference to the ‘Choose Your Own Adventure‘ book series from the 80’s.) I asked a number of different people, usually friends/fellow artists, to design a still life for me to paint using their own belongings or borrowing from the surrounds of the studio. I tried to have as little impact as possible on the set up they arrived at thereby achieving a third person self portrait of sorts.
