2010 Chinese New Year Festival

6 February – 3 March 2010
Opening Tuesday 9 February 6-8pm
Animal Fables, and Fairy tale classic animal characters are some themes explored in ceramic sculptures. The familiar animal characters that I have grown up with are brought to life using the Chinese earthenware lead glazes. This is my own interpretation of the animals as they convey the human gestures and mannerisms in their faces and actions. I am inspired by the Chinese Tang dynasty funerary animals and the Japanese Netsuke.
