Tony Costa
Cox’s Gap & Beyond
23 May – 17 June, 2009
My recent paintings continue to explore landscape and in particular an area north east of Mudgee, called Cox’s gap and the surrounding areas.
My preoccupation is to trap the energy of a particular place. It is always a blend of the real and the imagined; a reconstruction of place.
I am committed to the idea of transcending appearances in order to discover new pictorial truths.
I use the line in my work to find my way out of the chaos in front of me.
