Sean Crowley
Sean Crowley paints from the everyday, a source that provides infinite possibility in combinations of natural, architectural and “vibrant matter”. The process of observing these environments allows a dialogue with everyday compositions but also is a departure from observed space and engagement with painted space. This painted space engaging with the dynamic relationships of architecture, people and matter. Notions of passages, closeness, separation, merging, and overlap become both painterly techniques as well as a way of considering our physical environments and our personal relationships.
Sean holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (2021) and Graduate Diploma (2022) from the National Art School, Sydney. He has previously studied (BDes.Arch USyd) and worked in architecture and urban design and completed the Intensive Drawing Program (2019) at the Royal Drawing School, London. Recent projects include Germ @ Stairwell Gallery (2022), Sydney Fringe Festival Residency (2022), Egg and Dart Christmas Show (2022), End of Year Show Oasis and Blur Studios (2022).
Sean has been a finalist in the Waverley Art Prize (2022) and the Mosman Art Prize (2022).
