Joel Elenberg was born in Melbourne in 1948. A self taught artist he left school in 1962 and travelled extensively including the Middle East before his first exhibition in 1969 at Australian Galleries. Other exhibitions followed at Bonython Gallery Sydney, Robin Gibson Gallery and Phillip Bacon Gallery in Brisbane. Joel died aged 32 in Bali in 1980
