Marilyn McGrath
sculpture
4 – 26 October 2024
opening
5-7pm Thursday 3 October
Marilyn McGrath has been making sculpture for over sixty years
This new intimate exhibition of nine sculptures showcases her enduring interest in the human form and abstraction in works dating from the 1970s to the 2020s
My central artistic concern has been to communicate sculptural images, which evoke a sense of strength and timelessness out of volume and form. My interest is in the composition of the piece, using different design techniques to intensify the visual impact of the sculpture but still achieving a connection with the viewer
I spend about same amount of time making a small marquette of my idea as I do to making the final enlarged sculpture
