Caught in a second
6 June – 1 July 2020
Caught in a second seeks to draw attention to the inconsequential moments that make us pause to notice
Feelings and sensations of joy, appreciation, reflection and anticipation that remind us of hope. Incidental throughout the day, these moments are often not long lived, they simply give us a little nudge in what can feel like a heavy world
The works were created shortly after the much-anticipated rains fell following the recent bushfires. A sense of relief was almost palpable after what was a devastating and onerous time in 2019-2020. The colours of the landscape began transforming, from what were once dry, dull tones became fresh and bright again. Still seeking movement, gesture and a curvilinear harmony, these works embrace bold and experimental surfaces
